PROTECT THE POETS

Director's Note

There are lines we draw for ourselves morally, ethically and spiritually. It's much easier to hold those line when faced with an opposing view from someone whom you do not care for. However, when that opposing belief comes from the one person you love, it can tear your soul in two. Some things you can compromise on, others you simply can't.

This play, with its amazing cast and production team, has been a joy to work on. I thank John Doble for allowing me to bring his words to life.

I dedicate my work on this show to my sister Yelena who is a prosecutor in Seattle and to my two good friends Chris and Steve who stand on the thin blue line and protect and serve. They are guardian angels who watch over us. May they never fall from grace.

"Sometimes... the law is not always justice" ~ Yelena Stock-Bonilla, Assistant City Prosecutor,  City of Seattle

To Protect The Poets is a beautifully written and crafted production that will stay with you days after seeing it. This shaping and molding of the characters happens in a way that feels natural within the world of the production. [This] is obviously helped both by Alberto Bonilla’s clean and sharp direction and by having the text be supported by a stellar cast.
Mary-Anne Wright, Theatre Is Easy
Alberto Bonilla directs the play with great sensitivity, drawing upon his sister’s expertise and insight as a Prosecutor in order to aptly convey how horrendous crimes can be perceived and how taking justice into one’s own hands is not a viable solution.
